Basic Loop Technique
If you want a larger loop try cutting the wire 1cm from the bead. Remember you will need to use slightly thicker part of the round nose pliers to form the loop.
Mark your pliers so you always have same size loops
For a average size loop as stated below you use approx 8mm (just under 1cm) of wire and form the loop about a quarter of the way up the jaw of the round nose pliers
Remember practice makes perfect, I have gone into quite a lot of detail here. This is how I do loops there are other ways if you have your own way and it works for you keep doing that.
1.Cut 15 cm of wire cut with the flush cutters make sure both ends are flush, Measure 8mm down and make a sharp 90° bend (the amount of wire to bend back will vary depending on how big a loop you want to make)
2.Hold the bent wire in front of you, over your finger
3. With the round nose pliers, turn the very end of the wire up so you have some thing for the pliers to grip.
4.Now keeping your pliers where they are, turn your palm up and grip that little bit of uplifted wire about a quarter of the way down your plier jaw and turn the pliers toward you until you complete half a loop
5. To complete the loop turn your pliers away from you half a turn, re- adjust your pliers and with palm still up complete the loop with quarter turns at a time, bringing it toward you.
(The turning of the loop is done in parts so you don't harm your wrist, however you may be able to complete the loop in go)
6. Slip a bead on and trim the wire leaving 8mm (its important to get the same size loop as the other loop) |
7.Grasp the bottom loop with pliers and bend the 8mm of wire over onto the bead
8. Same as with the first loop, turn the very tip of the wire up, then turn you palm up and grab the upturned wire quarter way down the plier jaw, turn the pliers toward you until you make half loop, readjust still with palm up, finish the loop with quarter turns. |
